New Professor of Practice will support MSW partnership program in Salina

The University of Kansas School of Social Welfare is excited to announce Rebeca Sandoval as the School’s newest professor of practice. Sandoval will start with the School this fall and teach in the new Master of Social Work program offering in Salina. The program is a partnership between Kansas State University (K-State Salina) and the University of Kansas (KU) School of Social Welfare.

Sandoval is a licensed specialist clinical social worker and comes to the School of Social Welfare with over 23 years of experience in the field. During this time, Sandoval supported over 30 licensed master social workers in obtaining their clinical licenses through approved supervision plans with the Behavioral Science Regulatory Board. Sandoval holds an executive master business administration (EMBA) degree from Wichita State University and has mentored social workers on business best practices while maintaining her own private practice.

In addition to her EMBA degree, Sandoval earned a master’s degree in social work from Newman University with honors in 2008 and is a registered play therapist supervisor. Additionally, Sandoval is certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Group Theraplay and AutPlay. Sandoval has taught BSW and MSW courses as an adjunct instructor with KU and Newman University since 2019. She is trained in court approved domestic case management and limited case management and specializes in working with high-conflict families, to help support the needs of everyone involved. 

The first cohort of students in the Advanced Standing MSW program at the K-State Salina partnership site started classes this summer. A Traditional MSW program will launch in Salina in fall 2024, for students who have received their undergraduate degree in a field other than social work.
