The Kansas State University Salina (K-State Salina) Social Work Program and the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare are partnering to offer the KU MSW at K-State Salina.
KU’s MSW program equips graduates with the knowledge to provide counseling and direct services to individuals, families, or groups, and make changes in organizations, communities, and policies that affect large populations in our society.
Flexible program to earn your graduate degree in social work
- Location: Kansas State University campus in Salina, Kansas
- Program options:
- Advanced Standing MSW plan of study requires a bachelor’s of social work to apply, and takes one year full-time to complete.
- The Traditional MSW plan of study requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college to apply, and takes two years full-time to complete. Part-time plans are available.
- Class format:
- Attend classes in person every other Saturday at the K-State campus in Salina, Kansas, with online learning on alternate weeks.*
- Attend practicum placement in person for at least 16 hours each week.
- Specialization: Choose clinical social work practice with individuals, families and groups, or social work macro practice aimed at administration, policy development and policy practice.
- Fully accredited: The KU MSW program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) since 1947.
*Note: Salina students may be enrolled in an online-only Zoom blended class if enrollment is not adequate for in-person classes.

Advanced Standing MSW in Salina
Students with a Bachelor of Social Work can apply to the Advanced Standing MSW and complete their master's degree in one year of full-time study.
Traditional MSW in Salina
Students with a bachelor's degree outside of social work can apply to the Traditional MSW plan of study and complete their master's degree in 2 years full-time or 3-4 years part-time.
