Part-Time Advanced Standing MSW Curriculum
Overview
KU Master of Social Work students can complete the Advanced Standing MSW plan of study in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.
The KU School of Social Welfare offers part-time Advanced Standing MSW plans in Lawrence, at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park, Online, and in Salina through a partnership with Kansas State University Salina.
MSW students with a Bachelor of Social Work degree complete the Advanced Standing MSW plan of study.

2-Year Clinical Curriculum
- SW 712 Social Work Advanced Standing Seminar (3 credit hours)
- Choose one of the two following courses (3 credit hours):
- SW 863 Mental Health & Psychopathology (required, you can choose to take in summer or fall) OR

The Macro Specialization is typically offered in an online format. When enrollment is adequate, the Macro Specialization is offered in person at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park. If enrollment is not adequate for an in-person Macro section, students will be enrolled in the Zoom blended section.
