Biography

Tara Glaus is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a multidisciplinary background bridging psychology, the arts, and clinical practice. She holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Dance Performance from East Carolina University and a Master of Social Work from Northern Arizona University.

Glaus currently serves as the Lead Therapist at Southwest Behavioral & Health Services’ Community Resilience Center in Phoenix, Arizona. In this role, she provides direct therapeutic services to individuals and groups, oversees treatment planning and quality of care, and offers mentorship and guidance to a multidisciplinary clinical team. She collaborates with community partners to design and implement trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive programs that foster resilience, recovery, and community well-being.

Her previous professional experience includes serving as a school-based therapist for middle and high school students, providing crisis intervention through suicide prevention and child abuse hotlines, and delivering community-based case management for adults with serious mental illness.

Before transitioning into social work, Glaus built a career as a professional dancer and educator, performing with modern dance companies and teaching students of varying ages and abilities. Her background in the performing arts continues to shape her integrative therapeutic philosophy, emphasizing creativity, connection, and the expressive process as pathways toward healing and growth.

Glaus’s doctoral research centers on suicide prevention, emphasizing community-based and connection-oriented interventions, the integration of expressive arts within therapeutic and prevention frameworks, and the utilization of creative and cultural industries as vehicles for mental health advocacy and suicide prevention.
