This year at the BSW graduation ceremony, Marcy and Tom Langhofer awarded the Do Good for Erin Langhofer Memorial Scholarship to India Forbes and Mallori Sack.

The Do Good for Erin Langhofer Memorial Scholarship was named after a two-time graduate of the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare. Langhofer earned her BSW in 2016 and her MSW in 2017. She was a practicing therapist in the Kansas City area working with survivors of domestic violence. Langhofer had a bright future ahead of her when she was killed by a random act of gun violence.

Langhofer’s family established a scholarship fund at the School of Social Welfare to honor her memory and continue the good she was doing in the world.

Forbes was nominated by her practicum instructor at Douglas County CASA. Forbes’  instructor said, “Our agency is a better place with her here. … India is the type of person who looks for a need she can help with and does that good, leaving the environment and the people she has worked with better than she found them.”

Sack was nominated by her practicum instructor at Benilde Hall, and by her practicum liaison. Sack’s  practicum instructor said, “Mallori embodies an empathetic presence and strives to continuously do her best in every situation. Mallori is a fierce, but passionate advocate for those who have experienced marginalization.”
