2025-2026 Sigler Aging Scholars announced
The Sigler Family Aging Scholars Program is welcoming three scholarship recipients for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The program offers learning opportunities to KU School of Social Welfare students who demonstrate a desire to serve older adults through practice, policy and research.
The number of aging-focused and competent social workers does not reach the projected need. Jobs for health care-focused social workers are expected to grow by 8% between 2024 and 2034, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
To combat these projections, the Sigler Family Aging Scholars Program supports three students with a scholarship of $4,000, one-to-one faculty mentoring, leadership development, community networking opportunities and specialized training.
The 2025-2026 Sigler Family Aging Scholars Program recipients are:
- Sheilah Tackett - practicum placement at Headquarters
- Emily Ford - practicum placement at the KU Alzheimer’s Disease Center
- Caraline Crowley - practicum placement at Ascend Hospice
