2022 Dean's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching awarded to Jaresa Ross-Bey

The Dean's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching was created to demonstrate our appreciation of our adjunct faculty members' immense contributions to the teaching mission of the School.  Because many of our adjunct faculty continue to work in agencies and in private practices, we benefit from their ability to link our curriculum and coursework to the issues and concerns that they face daily in real-world practice settings. We are extremely honored to announce this year’s award winner, Jaresa Ross-Bey.

Jaresa is an adjunct professor and a field liaison for the KU School of Social Welfare. An MSW Student nominated her to receive this award who detailed a willingness to spend additional time assisting them with practice behavirots and writing skills. The student expressed appreciation for Jaresa’s willingness to spend additional time assisting them with practice behaviors and writing skills. Jaresa routinely receives praise from students on their instructor evaluations. Including this one, “[Professor] Ross-Bey created a space and facilitated not only one of the best learning environments I’ve ever had but also the most open, safe and collaborative experience I’ve been in. This class was nothing short of transformational for every student I talked to. I have no doubt I’ll be a better social worker and human for having been in this class.”
