Professional to present on trauma management in K-12 schools
From noon to 2 p.m. on Aug. 7, Dr. Roslyn Christopher will present a program on Zoom titled “Toward Trauma-Informed Schools.”
The University of Kansas School of Social Welfare’s Center for Community Engagement & Collaboration (CCEC) will host the live Zoom presentation, which will provide two hours of free continuing education to social workers and other behavioral health professionals.
Social workers are vital in schools to address student mental health. They create trauma-informed educational environments to lower the impact of trauma being introduced into learning spaces.
This session will offer social workers the opportunity to learn from an expert in trauma-informed education, so they can implement these principles across schools.

Christopher has over 20 years of experience as a school social worker. She joined the KU School of Social Welfare faculty as an associate professor of the practice in fall 2024. One of Dr. Christopher’s long-time collaborators, a trauma-certified teacher, will join her for this presentation.
“Integrating trauma-informed practices in school can help foster an environment where all students have the opportunity to heal, grow, and reach their full potential,” Christopher said.
The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. Learn more and register.
