Biography —
Candice Tso is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) Facilitator, Positive Indian Parenting Instructor, Project Venture Instructor. Tso has a bachelor's degree in American Indian Studies from Haskell Indian Nations University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
Tso works as a coordinator and grantee technical assistant in the Tribal Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTA) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). She provides culturally appropriate training and technical assistance to American Indian and Alaska Native communities to address and prevent mental and substance use disorders and suicide and to promote mental health.
Tso has previously worked as Native Connection Grant Coordinator with Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, where she managed day-to-day grant activities, and as a social worker at the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, where she coordinated activities with the American Indian/ Alaska Native Health Equity Initiative Project funded by the Office of Minority Health grant, also known as the Proud Indigenous Youth Leaders (PIYL) program.
