Biography

Amy Mendenhall, PhD, is the vice provost for faculty affairs at the University of Kansas and professor in the School of Social Welfare. Dr. Mendenhall served as the School's Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development for 6 years, and the Director for the Center for Community Engagement & Collaboration for 5 years. Dr. Mendenhall received her MSW and PhD from the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Division of the Department of Psychiatry at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Mendenhall’s work focuses on child and family well-being, with particular focus on community-based services for children and families. Dr. Mendenhall has served as PI or Co-PI on more than 30 funded projects, with total funding close to $9 million. Recent projects include the development and evaluation of Strengths Model for Youth, evaluation of the implementation of the Attachment Biobehavioral Catchup intervention in Kansas, and evaluation of the Strengthening Families Program in tribal communities. Dr. Mendenhall is the founder and inaugural director of the School’s Center for Community Engagement & Collaboration (CCEC), which partners with the community to transform practice and policy through training, technical assistance, and evaluation.
