Taryn Atkins, BSW, is a citizen of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. Ms. Atkins attended Haskell Indian Nations University and completed her BSW from the University of Kansas. While interning as a probation officer, Ms. Atkins developed a passion for substance abuse case management, equality, and client advocacy. Ms. Atkins continued her advocacy in Indian Child Welfare and then relocated to British Columbia, Canada to develop aboriginal youth programming and mentoring. Ms. Atkins remained in the Child Welfare field for 7 years prior to joining Kansas Strong as a Program Coach with KanCoach. Ms. Atkins is certified as a Qualified Expert Witness through the National Indian Child Welfare Association, holds 10+ years’ experience in public speaking and has extensive experience in both tribal court and Oklahoma state court as a social worker. Taryn’s greatest achievement is landing a Canadian husband and bringing him back to the Midwest.
