Dr. Briana McGeough, Dr. Carrie Wendel-Hummell awarded 2025 Suzanne & Harry Statland Research Staff Award
The Statland Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship recognizes scholarly excellence and demonstrated impact on both the academy and social work practice. Two scholars are recognized with this year’s award: Dr. Briana McGeough and Dr. Carrie Wendel-Hummell.
Briana McGeough, Ph.D.
A clear and consistent focus drives Dr. Briana McGeough’s accomplished research program: to reduce mental health disparities experienced by LGBTQ individuals relative to the broader population. Her achievements are notable for the community-engaged and profoundly collaborative approaches she employs to center people’s experiences in the production and application of science.
Carrie Wendel-Hummell, Ph.D.
Dr. Carrie Wendel-Hummell’s research has been committed to informing evidence-based policy changes in aging and disability services, collaborating closely with community partners to ensure that the voices of marginalized populations are elevated. Notably, she established the Center for the Advancement of Health for Everyone (CAHE) to bridge gaps in health equity research
