Transform Lives. Be the Change.

With great sadness

Saturday, August 3, 2019

It is with great sadness that I share the news that one of our alumni, Erin Langhofer, 25, was shot and killed at the First Friday celebration in the Crossroads District yesterday evening. It was confirmed that Erin and her boyfriend were attending First Friday and were innocent bystanders of an altercation which resulted in gunfire, and Erin was tragically hit by a stray bullet. Erin graduated with her MSW in May 2017 and was a therapist at Rose Brooks Center working with survivors of domestic violence. Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers go out to her family and friends, and when unexplainable tragedy strikes like this, we remind our Jayhawk family to please seek comfort in each other and know that KU CAPS is always an additional resource. We are also always available in Twente Hall as a resource and source of support.
