Condemning the Destruction of the University of Kansas Common Work of Art, “Native Hosts”

The School of Social Welfare stands in solidarity with the Lawrence and Kansas Indigenous communities in condemning the destruction of the University of Kansas Common Work of Art, “Native Hosts”. The destruction of this art installation was a violent act and represents a deeper and tragically historical pattern of disregard for Indigenous communities and their cultural values. The School of Social Welfare abhors violence of any kind. As such, we pledge to continue educating students, faculty, staff, and community members to eradicate the harm caused by misinformation and ignorance of issues critical to Indigenous communities that perpetuate systematic racism.

We encourage individuals who have information on the identity of those who committed this act of hatred, to come forth and report details to the KU Office of Public Safety.
